dust 03:46
there is dust for a thousand miles you knew this way before you came this is just one of many trials laden with what makes blame you're a journeyed clockwise man only scared of what's sitting still but questioning can't comfort the damned your hell they'll never overfill dust dust settles down, you snake around crawling on your pussy side you never wished to be lost or found only considered gone for a ride but you drank the sand right off the bottom you yanked the dust from the breeze now you've lost your little sheep so count yourself and go to sleep dust riding away through thin nothingness you hang sad like a dead tree soon night will come you'll rest of course this is reckoned a blessing or at least something to have been acquainted with circadian regularity or has memory rekindled only myth? bones burn away in dusty sea bones burn away in dusty sea bones burn away in dusty sea burns bone away in dusty sea dust

bad 02:52
i'm sheer in love with ye it's bad, bad, bad feeling mighty woolly towards ye it's bad, bad, bad but you're much sweater than me i'll scarf you down and leave you in mittens i'm sheer in love with ye it's bad, bad, bad it's whiter than the shown snow it's bad, bad, bad feeling fleecy glee ah ugh uhuh but you're one more cloven than me i'll stick my foot in my mouth justly as it had been written i'll scarf you down and leave you in mittens i'll stick my foot in my mouth justly as it had been written

hungry there both day and night what would be thrown away? the senseless man sharpens his knife & grinds his teeth away my strength is hatred, babe O, let it grow on trees the waves are waving to your eyes cast all hope in those waves what makes ocean levels rise to cover up our shame now that my strength is hatred, babe O, let it grow on trees the man with bloody fist on fire is steeped in pining pain the man with his old prayers so tired is born without a name yeah, that my strength is hatred, babe O, let it grow on trees reassured by blinding light that I'm in need of shade I'm on fire both day & night I need your quenching wane an empty cup, a broken plate a splinter in a flame an emptied eye, a broken face a web of bleeding veins my strength is hatred, babe O, let it grow on trees

about

A companion (digital only) release of outtakes from the ¿my strength is hatred? sessions recorded in Oklahoma in the year 2001, most of these songs/versions are previously unreleased with the exception of "dust" which appeared on a Tract Records compilation called What Are The Museums Doing? (TR035) .

The compilation was largely ignored save for this mention: www.psychedelicfolk.com/Tract.html where it is said that "Different and distinctive from the others is Derek Joe Brockett, a sneezing cowboy voice-mixture of Johnny Cash and Elvis, singing about dust, with a couple of weirdos as background chorus."

The ¿my strength is hatred? e.p. is still available on 10 inch vinyl record
